Diego's Relief Project was born from a single conviction: that ordinary people, working together, can do extraordinary things for those in crisis.

How it all began
In the summer of 2017, a series of catastrophic floods swept through the coastal communities of Central America, leaving thousands of families without shelter, clean water, or food. Diego Ramirez, then a structural engineer working in the region, watched relief efforts stall in red tape while people waited. He loaded his truck with supplies and drove into the hardest-hit areas himself.
What started as one man's response became a movement. Neighbors joined. Friends donated. Local businesses contributed. Within weeks, a small but determined network had formed — and Diego's Relief Project was born. The organization was built on a simple principle: get help to people fast, treat them with dignity, and leave communities stronger than you found them.
Today, Diego's Relief Project operates across 18 communities, supported by more than 320 volunteers and a growing network of donors who believe that relief work should be transparent, efficient, and deeply human. We have helped over 4,200 families recover from floods, earthquakes, and economic hardship — and we are just getting started.

After witnessing the aftermath of a devastating flood in his hometown, Diego left a career in engineering to dedicate his life to disaster relief. He founded Diego's Relief Project in 2017.

With 12 years in international humanitarian work, Sarah oversees logistics, partnerships, and field deployments. She ensures every dollar reaches the people who need it most.
